To herald the reopening of the quirky corrugated iron building known as the Band Room, Signa Technologies have installed a Moorsweb superfast internet and WiFi service, free of charge, at the community venue located in Low Mill.
The Band Room described as the greatest small venue on earth, sits in the heart of the beautiful countryside of the North Yorkshire Moors. Providing quality musical fayre for over 21 years, it has become a much-valued venue for community social engagement and entertainment.
Martyn Boswell, managing director of Signa Technologies Ltd said “as part of our ongoing ‘give back to the community’ initiative, we were more than happy to provide the free service to such a great little community venue”.
Moorsweb, Signa Technologies’ fixed wireless service has been providing high-speed and superfast broadband packages across the North Yorkshire Moors for over 15 years and is in the midst of rolling out a Gigabit capable network, providing customers with ultra-fast packages starting at 100Mbps.
Sally Potter, the Band Room Treasurer and customer of Moorsweb said “mobile signal service is non-existent in the village and it’s a struggle if you need to get hold of someone quickly. We were increasingly requiring an internet connection into the Band Room, not only to utilise the WiFi calling applications but also to open up opportunities for the venue, such as artists needing to access online content to enhance their performances, potentially live streaming of events for those unable to attend in person, and to give the space more practical uses in the future.
I approached Signa about getting a service installed and was delighted when they said they would happily do that for free.”
Now that Covid restrictions are being lifted, the Band Room can start hosting events again and will welcome back customers later in the summer. The venue is used by various community groups such as the Farndale YCA, Bandroom Beaders and provides Daffy Teas for the Daffodil Walk in Farndale during the Spring.
